Cadillac de Ville

The Cadillac de Ville was a two-door coupe which was first rolled out in 1949.

It was part of the Series 62 and Cadillac’s first pillarless hardtop.

There was also a convertible version available.

Initially selling for $3,497 the model was aimed at the upper end of the market.

This first generation of the Coupe de Ville was powered by a 5.4l V8 engine.

Sales of the Coupe de Ville had exceeded 4,200 by the end of 1950 and were to double the following year.

1954 saw the launch of the second generation of the de Ville. It remained a two-door, but a pickup was added to the range.

As well as the original 5.4l V8, a 6l version was also available. In 1956 the Sedan de Ville, was added. It was Cadillac’s first ever four-door hardtop.
